The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Weldon Henry got in the 3rd a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Jesus Hyatt handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Rob Goddard kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Trevor Marin. That made the score 1-0 in the 6 minute of play. Weldon Henry struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Jesus Hyatt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Devoto Shores FC. Reynaldo McDonough could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Trevor Marin made a huge save. Jesus Hyatt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Weldon Henry, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Willie Browne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jesus Hyatt having to interfere. Kalala FC's Reynaldo McDonough got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 31 minutes into the game, Geoffrey Alvarez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Devoto Shores FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kalala FC the free kick. After 31 played minutes Devoto Shores FC got a freekick which was hit by Geoffrey Alvarez. Reynaldo McDonough in the 33rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Trevor Marin, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Dennis Grimes hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Reynaldo McDonough blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Trevor Marin having to make a save. Kalala FC's Jesus Hyatt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Weldon Henry in the 39th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 45th minute of the game. One of Kalala FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Devoto Shores FC:s goal. In the 47th minute there was a penalty for Devoto Shores FC. Sydney Whitlock stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jesus Hyatt. 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Weldon Henry stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ray Jacobsen's late challenge caught a Devoto Shores FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ray Jacobsen helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Devoto Shores FC booed when Kalala FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ray Jacobsen didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played with Kalala FC's defense Reuben MacFarland in the 55th minute fired away a shot at goal just outside the top left corner. A bit more spin and it would have been a certain goal. Rob Goddard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trevor Marin having to interfere. If Rob Goddard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Trevor Marin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rob Goddard in the 76th minute of play. In the 78th minute, Weldon Henry got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 79th minute Weldon Henry shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jesus Hyatt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 81 minutes into the match, Kalala FC's goalkeeper Jesus Hyatt had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Willie Browne. Stevie Crockett's late challenge caught a Devoto Shores FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Stevie Crockett helped the player get up and apologised. In the 82nd minute, Stevie Crockett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Willie Browne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 85 minutes into the match, Rob Goddard notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Devoto Shores FC's Trevor Marin. Trevor Marin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jesus Hyatt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Weldon Henry, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 96th minute, Peter Norman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Devoto Shores FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
