The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th minute Devoto Shores FC were awarded a corner. Sydney Whitlock went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Sydney Whitlock almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but North Alaska FC's Yong Hopson did a great save. Grady Steiner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trevor Marin having to interfere. Devoto Shores FC's Trevor Marin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Devoto Shores FC from getting a goal against them. If Grady Steiner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Trevor Marin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Grady Steiner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dennis Grimes kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. In the 25th match minute, Devoto Shores FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raul Swenson to maneuver through the defense. 26 minutes into the match, North Alaska FC's Adolfo Stjohn broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Willie Browne in the 28th minute of play forced North Alaska FC's goalkeeper Yong Hopson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Grady Steiner in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Trevor Marin saved Devoto Shores FC from getting behind. Weldon Henry received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Yong Hopson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Willie Browne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd match minute, North Alaska FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cedric Fischer to maneuver through the defense. Weldon Henry sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Yong Hopson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Weldon Henry, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The supporters of Devoto Shores FC booed when North Alaska FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elijah Cleveland didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Nicholas Ellison managed to get in a good position for a shot. North Alaska FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicholas Ellison was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Trevor Marin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 67th minute Weldon Henry shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yong Hopson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Trevor Marin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicholas Ellison in the 72nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Grady Steiner in the 75th minute of play forced Devoto Shores FC's goalkeeper Trevor Marin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raul Swenson kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Trevor Marin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Grady Steiner in the 76th minute of play. Yong Hopson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Willie Browne in the 79th minute. 84 minutes into the match, North Alaska FC's goalkeeper Yong Hopson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Willie Browne. After a rather tough play, North Alaska FC's Cedric Fischer got a free kick in the 85th minute. In the 86th minute, Weldon Henry got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 90 minutes of play, North Alaska FC's Nicholas Ellison made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Trevor Marin was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 93rd minute, Elijah Cleveland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Nicholas Ellison had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Devoto Shores FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
