In the 18th match minute, East Dubuque was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ty Rhoades to maneuver through the defense. Claudio Kendrick took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brandon Tripp, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Brandon Tripp scored 0-1 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Claudio Kendrick, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. East Dubuque's Claudio Kendrick played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brandon Tripp in the 33rd minute of play. Cliff Hinds charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cliff Hinds the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 39 played minutes East Dubuque got a freekick which was hit by Cliff Hinds. Longview FC's Collin Escobar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Longview FC from getting a goal against them. In the 43rd minute, Hector Domenec left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Longview FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 46th match minute, Longview FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sherman Waite to maneuver through the defense. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Brad Werner to make the kick off. The tension between the Longview FC and the East Dubuque players grew even worse after the yellow card.
