The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Louie Irvin during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 4th match minute, AJAX was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Louie Irvin to maneuver through the defense. Darell Flynn, 5 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Florian Baldwin's late challenge caught a East Los Angeles's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Florian Baldwin helped the player get up and apologised. In the 6th minute, Florian Baldwin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Coulter could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Nathan Harman made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eddy Darby in the 13th minute of play forced East Los Angeles's goalkeeper Nathan Harman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Glenn Brunson charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Glenn Brunson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 15 minutes into the game, one of East Los Angeles:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Nathan Harman, was totally fooled by AJAX's Alfredo Thurston, who 18 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 22nd minute, AJAX's Louie Irvin seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Louie Irvin the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of AJAX protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Louie Irvin had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 22nd minute, one of AJAX:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for AJAX. The referee gave East Los Angeles a penalty, 24 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Darell Flynn, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of AJAX's Charles Samuel. 1-1. East Los Angeles's Nathan Harman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save East Los Angeles from getting a goal against them. In the 33rd minute, Edward Thorne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Steven Gentry's late challenge caught a AJAX's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Steven Gentry helped the player get up and apologised. After 40 played minutes East Los Angeles got a freekick which was hit by Steven Gentry. Kory Singh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Charles Samuel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Coulter hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match.

The wind increased when Julio Coulter made the kick off in the second half. AJAX's Charles Samuel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kory Singh in the 55th minute of play. Terrance Marquez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Charles Samuel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kory Singh in the 59th minute of the match. Charles Samuel came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by East Los Angeles's Terrance Marquez. But to his dismay, Terrance Marquez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. After having played for 63 minutes, Kory Singh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. East Los Angeles's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kory Singh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 69 minutes into the match, AJAX's goal looked a bit too open when Kory Singh came free, but Charles Samuel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Terrance Marquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nathan Harman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julio Coulter in the 78th minute of play. Florian Baldwin came free in the 84th minute and tried to tip the ball over Nathan Harman, but to the joy of East Los Angeles's supporters the ball went over. With his leg Charles Samuel managed to avoid a goal in the 87thth minute, when East Los Angeles's Terrance Marquez fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. AJAX's Charles Samuel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save AJAX from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Terrance Marquez in the 95th minute of play forced AJAX's goalkeeper Charles Samuel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Terrance Marquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
