Arsenal FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Kory Haines was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Charles Samuel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 15th minute Eddy Darby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sandy Sheldon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julio Coulter in the 18th minute of play forced Arsenal FC's goalkeeper Sandy Sheldon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute, Julio Coulter left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. Eddy Darby received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Sandy Sheldon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luciano McNeil's late challenge caught a AJAX's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 87 minutes, Florian Baldwin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AJAX and the Arsenal FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Florian Baldwin hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. AJAX had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
