Sherwood took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sheldon Boyce, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jimmy Cruz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benny Bennett in the 12th minute. Isidro Henry hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Texas FC's J.C. Sherwood played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geoffrey Pickett in the 14th minute of play. In the 17th minute Mike Slaughter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but J.C. Sherwood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. J.C. Sherwood showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mike Slaughter, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Asher Luther got free with Jimmy Cruz in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jimmy Cruz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benny Bennett in the 22nd minute. 26 minutes into the game, Texas FC's Rodger Mendoza nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jimmy Cruz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. After 30 minutes of play, Trabuco Highlands's Mike Slaughter made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. J.C. In the 40th minute Sheldon Boyce shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but J.C. Sherwood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benny Bennett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Jimmy Cruz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Asher Luther sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After a rather tough play, Texas FC's Filiberto Raines got a free kick in the 52nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Geoffrey Pickett managed to get in a good position for a shot. The corner led to Texas FC's Alexis Knox getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 94 minutes into the match, Asher Luther notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Trabuco Highlands's Jimmy Cruz. Jimmy Cruz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. For all the effort they put into the match, the Trabuco Highlands players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Texas FC.
