If Dale Diggs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 27 minutes, Dale Diggs mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the South Eliot AFC and the Smithtown FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, South Eliot AFC's Dale Diggs got a free kick in the 27th minute. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind South Eliot AFC's goalkeeper Casey Worthington, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Donovan Meredith's late challenge caught a South Eliot AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Isidro Sherrill showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dale Diggs, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Trent Kenny received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Casey Worthington tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeremy Hamby in the 46th minute of play forced Smithtown FC's goalkeeper Isidro Sherrill to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Wes Pagan to strike the kick off in the second half. Nathanial Goff charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
