East Newark FC's Alec Houston proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save East Newark FC from getting a goal against them. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Walter Hernandez in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alec Houston saved East Newark FC from getting behind. Blake Blair showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rocky Crews in the 32nd minute of the match. If Santiago Souza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alec Houston made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Dudley McGinnis sent off a good shot on target. Alan Lockwood hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Owen Cornelius made a great header on Palm Springs FC's corner, it was just that East Newark FC's Alec Houston managed to reach the ball for a save. East Newark FC's Rocky Crews got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rocky Crews was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute Dudley McGinnis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alec Houston saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
