The coaching staff of Atlanta United FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Daren Goins had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. When the match was over Kansas City could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Atlanta United FC throughout the match.
