Spectators: 7626 (Terracing: 5760, Seating: 1766, VIP seats: 100) Sporting Olathe's Theo Ulrich started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting Olathe's zone, Tad Morris stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erik Gorman came out of the goal and Tad Morris tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 7th minute Theo Ulrich shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomas Yost saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting Olathe's goalkeeper Erik Gorman, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tad Morris in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Erik Gorman prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Sandoval in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Erik Gorman saved Sporting Olathe from getting behind. The supporters of Sporting Olathe booed when Pittsburgh Pirates was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Van Gilbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th minute of the match Rueben Epperson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tomas Yost skillfully saved the ball. If Cason Clements had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tad Morris scored 1-1 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Erik Gorman, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Curt Gentry struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Tomas Yost didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Olathe. Tomas Yost stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Theo Ulrich's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Curt Gentry in the 44th minute of play forced Pittsburgh Pirates's goalkeeper Tomas Yost to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stanford Owen kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cason Clements to make the kick off. In the 55th minute, Theo Ulrich made a precise shot to the right of Tomas Yost. Pittsburgh Pirates's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Pittsburgh Pirates's Daniel Sandoval has a good shot, but didn't show it this time. The shot went over the crossbar in the 60th minute. The supporters of Pittsburgh Pirates booed when Sporting Olathe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Corey Roland didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Sandoval was extremely unlucky when he, in the 63rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. If Theo Ulrich had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpected shot in the 72nd minute by Tad Morris got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 75th minute, Theo Ulrich hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 78th minute, Daniel Sandoval ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Erik Gorman was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Curt Gentry hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Sporting Olathe's Moses Moses got a free kick in the 87th minute. If Daniel Sandoval had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tad Morris got free with Erik Gorman in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pittsburgh Pirates's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Sporting Olathe had won, even though Pittsburgh Pirates had held more of the ball.
