When Willie Agoos fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pittsburgh Pirates's protests and gave Willie Agoos a yellow card for diving instead. In the 4th match minute, Pittsburgh Pirates was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Willie Agoos to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Rolland Springer managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC STATES's supporters rose to their feet, but Rolland Springer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tomas Yost breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vincenzo McPherson's late challenge caught a Pittsburgh Pirates's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vincenzo McPherson helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Pittsburgh Pirates booed when FC STATES was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vincenzo McPherson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tad Morris sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Milan Bell kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ken Flores. That made the score 1-0 in the 24 minute of play. In the 44th minute, Enrique Terra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ken Flores made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Milan Bell in the 47th minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cason Clements to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tad Morris in the 63rd minute of play forced FC STATES's goalkeeper Ken Flores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ken Flores took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cason Clements, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 72nd minute Cason Clements shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ken Flores saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ken Flores showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cason Clements in the 79th minute of the match. After 84 minutes, Enrique Terra mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC STATES and the Pittsburgh Pirates players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 86th minute, Cason Clements ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ken Flores was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Tad Morris recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the referee ended the match the Pittsburgh Pirates players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
