In the 13th minute, Merrill Swenson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rueben Epperson during the 16th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gavino Olivar made a kick off. Ken Flores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Theo Ulrich, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Erik Gorman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gavino Olivar in the 53rd minute of play. In the 55th minute, Curt Gentry hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gavino Olivar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tom Burke might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ken Flores. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tom Burke ran back to his position shaking his head. Craig Massey hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Gavino Olivar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Erik Gorman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Sporting Olathe left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than FC STATES.
