Kareem Sutton charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kareem Sutton the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 29 minutes, Wesley Carver mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Escalon and the Sporting KC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Sporting KC booed when Escalon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tanner Mays didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Sporting KC's Dalton Osborn got control of the ball when Daron Bright tried to sneak it across the goal line.
