The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ari Oakley in the 7th minute of play forced Escalon's goalkeeper Carlo Thorne to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wesley Carver received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Sherwood Pacheco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ari Oakley in the 20th minute of play forced Escalon's goalkeeper Carlo Thorne to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Port au Voleurs's Earl Castle got a free kick in the 25th minute. When Orville Herron fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Port au Voleurs's protests and gave Orville Herron a yellow card for diving instead. Orville Herron hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Sol Hinkle was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 31st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The supporters of Port au Voleurs booed when Escalon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erik Thorpe didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wesley Carver in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sherwood Pacheco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Monte Stark came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Port au Voleurs fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Monte Stark couldn't finish the play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wesley Carver stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Earl Castle during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Escalon booed when Port au Voleurs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Earl Castle didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 57th minute, Monte Stark ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carlo Thorne was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. When Tanner Mays fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. In the 61st match minute, Port au Voleurs was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ari Oakley to maneuver through the defense. In the 65th minute Ari Oakley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlo Thorne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sherwood Pacheco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wesley Carver, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Sherwood Pacheco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wesley Carver in the 68th minute of play. Wesley Carver kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. In the 84th minute of the match, Wesley Carver tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Sherwood Pacheco saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. A collision led to Port au Voleurs getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Earl Castle hit a great ball. In the 85th minute Wesley Carver shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sherwood Pacheco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Daron Bright had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Escalon booed when Port au Voleurs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jayson Boone didn't get a good kick on the ball.
