Marvin Estrada kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Cloquet's Julian Lester got a free kick in the 7th minute. If Dominic Newell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 14 in the game by Phillip Braxton from a close distance when the talented Eldon Zeigler managed to make a qualified save. Goblin Ski Patrol's players were relieved. A collision led to Goblin Ski Patrol getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Edmundo Estes hit a great ball. Julian Lester received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Eldon Zeigler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Goblin Ski Patrol were furious when Lance Sheehan was red carded, 18 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 18th minute of the game. One of Goblin Ski Patrol:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Cloquet:s goal. Eldon Zeigler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Lester in the 27th minute of play. Goblin Ski Patrol's Eldon Zeigler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Lester in the 29th minute of play. With a little luck, Goblin Ski Patrol's Eldon Zeigler got control of the ball when Phillip Braxton tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Cloquet's zone, Marvin Estrada stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Darren Tidwell came out of the goal and Marvin Estrada tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Lester in the 45th minute of play forced Goblin Ski Patrol's goalkeeper Eldon Zeigler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Cloquet's zone, Jonathan Holbrook stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Darren Tidwell came out of the goal and Jonathan Holbrook tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jonathan Holbrook made a kick off. Darren Tidwell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marvin Estrada, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jonathan Holbrook recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gregg Campos hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. After 56 played minutes Goblin Ski Patrol got a freekick which was hit by Marvin Estrada. Julian Lester fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eldon Zeigler having to interfere. Jonathan Holbrook's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Darren Tidwell firmly grabbed it by the left post. If Phillip Braxton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Phillip Braxton came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Cloquet fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phillip Braxton couldn't finish the play. Phillip Braxton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Eldon Zeigler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonathan Holbrook might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Darren Tidwell. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jonathan Holbrook ran back to his position shaking his head.
