After a rather tough play, Berwick AFC's Junior Patrick got a free kick in the 9th minute. Darren Tidwell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dante Gill in the 16th minute of the match. Junior Patrick kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Art Pulliam in the 42nd minute of play forced Cloquet's goalkeeper Darren Tidwell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 45 minutes into the match, Phillip Braxton had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Boyd Ludwig. Berwick AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Phillip Braxton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Julian Lester to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Tracy Grossman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cloquet's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Berwick AFC the free kick. The supporters of Berwick AFC booed when Cloquet was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tracy Grossman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dante Gill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darren Tidwell having to interfere. The supporters of Cloquet booed when Berwick AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Junior Patrick didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julian Lester might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Boyd Ludwig. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Julian Lester ran back to his position shaking his head. Phillip Braxton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dante Gill scored 1-2 in the 78th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Darren Tidwell, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 82nd minute, Art Pulliam left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Berwick AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. When the match was over Berwick AFC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Cloquet throughout the match.
