Randall Stafford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rolland Souza, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. German Golden helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Bella Vista AFC getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. German Golden hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Bella Vista AFC's zone, Rolland Souza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Randall Stafford came out of the goal and Rolland Souza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rolland Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Randall Stafford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 13 minutes, Tod Parker managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sound Beach's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tod Parker was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 18th minute, Tod Parker got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. German Golden hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Rolland Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Randall Stafford having to interfere. Sound Beach's Dirk Rich played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mitch Sherrill in the 30th minute of play. Tod Parker struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Randall Stafford didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sound Beach. Sound Beach's Rolland Souza got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rolland Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Randall Stafford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 45 played minutes, Sound Beach's Lee Ingram shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Randall Stafford came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sound Beach reached it. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rolland Souza to strike the kick off in the second half. Rolland Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute.
