When Aztecs Premire's Denny Jeffries, in the 14th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Aztecs Premire. When the match clock showed 19 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Jason Dooley sped through Aztecs Premire's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Damon Flint. Damon Flint was out of position in the 22 minute of play, and Monty Lefler capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Monty Lefler really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. In the 25th minute, Boyd Nicholson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Casey Gates was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Atlanta United FC's Jason Dooley got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Damon Flint stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Monty Lefler's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Aztecs Premire's Damon Flint proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Aztecs Premire from getting a goal against them. Damon Flint took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Monty Lefler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jason Dooley blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Damon Flint having to make a save. Damon Flint showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jason Dooley, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Rocco Duvall kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. After having played for 42 minutes, Jason Dooley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlanta United FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jason Dooley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Derrick Lee hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Jason Dooley struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Damon Flint didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atlanta United FC. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

With a little luck, Atlanta United FC's Casey Gates got control of the ball when Denny Jeffries tried to sneak it across the goal line. Denny Jeffries recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 61st minute, Jason Dooley ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Damon Flint was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Aztecs Premire's goalkeeper Damon Flint, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Denny Jeffries struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Casey Gates didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Aztecs Premire. Boyd Nicholson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Boyd Nicholson was extremely unlucky when he, in the 86th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Ervin Deaton charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ervin Deaton the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Aztecs Premire booed when Atlanta United FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ervin Deaton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Boyd Nicholson took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Casey Gates. Casey Gates dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Atlanta United FC had won after a very even match.
