Monty Lefler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 8 played minutes Atlanta United FC got a freekick which was hit by Jason Dooley. After 10 played minutes Atlanta United FC got a freekick which was hit by Emanuel Davies. When Seth Madden came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the RedArmyFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Seth Madden couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Seth Madden got free with Casey Gates in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jason Dooley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Chan having to interfere. The supporters of RedArmyFC booed when Atlanta United FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rocco Duvall didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Vernon Echols had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 32 minutes, Emanuel Davies mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atlanta United FC and the RedArmyFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. 36 minutes into the match, Atlanta United FC's goalkeeper Casey Gates had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Seth Madden. If Monty Lefler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Monty Lefler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. David Chan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 0-1 became the score in the 45th minute when Monty Lefler elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Monty Lefler made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Atlanta United FC's goal looked a bit too open when Vernon Echols came free, but Casey Gates reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Casey Gates showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vernon Echols in the 55th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Vernon Echols's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Casey Gates was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. After 61st play minutes Seth Madden shot 1-1, a short shot which went by Casey Gates and just under the crossbar into goal. When Tuan Nesbitt fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored RedArmyFC's protests and gave Tuan Nesbitt a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Atlanta United FC booed when RedArmyFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tuan Nesbitt didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 69 played minutes RedArmyFC got a freekick which was hit by Tuan Nesbitt. Otis Bates recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jason Dooley was extremely unlucky when he, in the 78th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. David Chan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monty Lefler in the 82nd minute of play. Curt Isaac hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Monty Lefler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Terrell Hanna's late challenge caught a RedArmyFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Terrell Hanna helped the player get up and apologised. In the 94th minute, one of Atlanta United FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Atlanta United FC. Atlanta United FC's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because RedArmyFC had won, even though Atlanta United FC had held more of the ball.
