Monty Lefler started the match with the kick off. 5 minutes into the match, Green's goal looked a bit too open when Monty Lefler came free, but Ted Ott reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 14thth minute of the game Taylor Arrington who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atlanta United FC's Casey Gates was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Taylor Arrington managed to get in a good position for a shot. Green's supporters rose to their feet, but Taylor Arrington was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Casey Gates breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 19th match minute, Atlanta United FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rocco Duvall to maneuver through the defense. After 19 played minutes, Green's Colby Singletary shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Casey Gates came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Green reached it. Jason Dooley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Ted Ott tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ted Ott acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 23rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Otis Bates. Taylor Arrington received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Casey Gates tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Taylor Arrington's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Casey Gates read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. Bryce Crowley's late challenge caught a Atlanta United FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bryce Crowley helped the player get up and apologised. After 40 played minutes Green got a freekick which was hit by Bryce Crowley. Ted Ott took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Monty Lefler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Donovan Grady was the one to do the kick off. Casey Gates came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Green's Donovan Grady. But to his dismay, Donovan Grady quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Casey Gates made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donovan Grady in the 59th minute of play. 60 minutes into the match, Green's Taylor Arrington sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Casey Gates narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Emanuel Davies during the 61st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 61st match minute, Atlanta United FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emanuel Davies to maneuver through the defense. In the 64th minute Donovan Grady shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casey Gates saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Miguel Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Green's zone, Monty Lefler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ted Ott came out of the goal and Monty Lefler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Taylor Arrington could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Casey Gates made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jason Dooley in the 83rd minute of play forced Green's goalkeeper Ted Ott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Donovan Grady fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Casey Gates having to interfere. Taylor Arrington sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
