Guillermo Miranda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. North Carolina Gauchos's Aaron Faulkner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Noel Mayberry in the 21st minute of play. In the 25th minute, Adolfo Frye hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Willie Burris kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Noel Mayberry fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aaron Faulkner having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Aurelio Ramirez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 38th minute Grant Croft shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jesus Meyer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in St. John AFC's zone, Grant Croft stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jesus Meyer came out of the goal and Grant Croft tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Aaron Faulkner was a little too slow when Hank Ruff got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 54th minute. The score was now 0-1. In the 58th minute, Guillermo Miranda left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The St. John AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Jesus Meyer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Florian Maher in the 61st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in St. John AFC's zone, Florian Maher stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jesus Meyer came out of the goal and Florian Maher tried to chip the ball over his head. Guillermo Miranda who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 73rdth minute tested the skills of Aaron Faulkner when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 82 minutes into the game, Noel Mayberry cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Aaron Faulkner was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 87thth minute of the game Darnell Benoit who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but St. John AFC's Jesus Meyer was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Darnell Benoit in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jesus Meyer saved St. John AFC from getting behind. The supporters of North Carolina Gauchos booed when St. John AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hank Ruff didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jesus Meyer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Darnell Benoit, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. 96 minutes into the game, Noel Mayberry was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. St. John AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave North Carolina Gauchos the free kick. A collision led to St. John AFC getting a freekick after 97 minutes play.
