The Phillipsburg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kory Hall should have stopped the shot. Brent Cherry sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 32 minutes into the match, Tesla TEC's goal looked a bit too open when Geraldo Parra came free, but James Bergstrom reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. James Bergstrom showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geraldo Parra, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 39th minute, Franklin Reyna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Terry Call got free with James Bergstrom in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Kory Hall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Franklin Reyna in the 51st minute of play. 54 minutes into the game, Phillipsburg's Porter Greenberg nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. James Bergstrom made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Porter Greenberg kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Sylvester Purvis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kory Hall having to interfere. If Brent Cherry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristobal Carmichael received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Kory Hall tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cristobal Carmichael ran back to his position shaking his head. 94 minutes into the match, Geraldo Parra had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of James Bergstrom. Tesla TEC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Geraldo Parra was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. When the referee ended the match the Phillipsburg players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
