Blaine Rafferty, 6 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Bradley Rader recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 9 minutes into the game, Rene Ng was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Des Plaines River Rats's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hokie Nation the free kick. A collision led to Des Plaines River Rats getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Rene Ng hit a great ball. If Lenny Monroe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 14 played minutes Hokie Nation got a freekick which was hit by Boyd McCracken. Glen Ewing's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 29thth minute, DeMarcus Kenny skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Bradley Rader fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vince Velazquez having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Jayson Oberle's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vince Velazquez was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. Des Plaines River Rats's Vince Velazquez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bradley Rader in the 46th minute of play.

Jayson Oberle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vince Velazquez having to interfere. Lenny Monroe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. DeMarcus Kenny tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Hokie Nation's Boyd McCracken got a free kick in the 64th minute. DeMarcus Kenny showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lenny Monroe in the 71st minute of the match. Glen Ewing succeeded in the game's 73rd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-0. Bradley Rader sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Glen Ewing received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. DeMarcus Kenny tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Glen Ewing came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Des Plaines River Rats fans jumped to their feet. After 95 minutes, Emery Patrick mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hokie Nation and the Des Plaines River Rats players grew even worse after the yellow card. Des Plaines River Rats's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
