The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cole Sweeney scored 0-1 in the 6th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of DeMarcus Kenny, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 9th minute, Cole Sweeney hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jayson Oberle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robbie Skinner having to interfere. DeMarcus Kenny showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marlon Smith, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Jayson Oberle was extremely unlucky when he, in the 32nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marlon Smith in the 33rd minute of play forced Hokie Nation's goalkeeper DeMarcus Kenny to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bradley Raders short, quick shot in the 37thth minute got Robbie Skinner to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 45th minute Timmy Medina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but DeMarcus Kenny saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ignacio Carrier charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ignacio Carrier the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Hokie Nation getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Ignacio Carrier hit a great ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Timmy Medina to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Delta Football Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cole Sweeney to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot 56 in the game by Marlon Smith from a close distance when the talented DeMarcus Kenny managed to make a qualified save. Hokie Nation's players were relieved. Robbie Skinner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bradley Rader, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Hokie Nation's Bradley Rader got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Timmy Medina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without DeMarcus Kenny having to interfere. 69 minutes into the match, Delta Football Club's Marlon Smith sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that DeMarcus Kenny narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Timmy Medina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marlon Smith received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. DeMarcus Kenny tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Timmy Medina in the 77th minute of play forced Hokie Nation's goalkeeper DeMarcus Kenny to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Timmy Medina in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg DeMarcus Kenny saved Hokie Nation from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jayson Oberle in the 88th minute of play forced Delta Football Club's goalkeeper Robbie Skinner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Marlon Smith managed to get in a good position for a shot. Delta Football Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Marlon Smith was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. DeMarcus Kenny breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Timmy Medina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without DeMarcus Kenny having to interfere. After 92 played minutes Hokie Nation got a freekick which was hit by Benny Foster. In the 96th minute, Benny Foster hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. For all the effort they put into the match, the Delta Football Club players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Hokie Nation.
