In the 11th minute, Lance Sheffield hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 12 minutes into the match, Texas Cavaliers's goal looked a bit too open when Wayne Crouch came free, but Denver Baird reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wayne Crouch's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Denver Baird read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. Javier Clark sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 28th minute, Antoine Chamberlain made a precise shot to the right of Peter Louis. Pontiac's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

If Wayne Crouch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pontiac's Javier Clark pulled a muscle in his leg after 58 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Levi Acevedo during the 59th minute. Wilbur Noble charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. That made the score 1-3 after 90 minutes of play. Val Merritt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Pontiac players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
