The excitement rose when Delta Football Club's Mel Ventura after 37 played minutes turned away three defenders near the goal, and after that shot a ball that was too difficult for Warrensville Heights's goalkeeper to hold. Score! 1-0. Marcos Barrera kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marlon Smith got free with Ward Kruse in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dustin Shaver sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Marlon Smith managed to get in a good position for a shot. Delta Football Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Marlon Smith was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
