Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Dean Calvert made the kick off which started today's match. In the 5th minute Connor Seals shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vince Gill saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Dean Calvert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 15 played minutes Locust Valley AFC got a freekick which was hit by Ramon Langston. After a rather tough play, Mathis FC's George Leon got a free kick in the 17th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Locust Valley AFC's zone, Kirby Andrews stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kenny Messer came out of the goal and Kirby Andrews tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kirby Andrews sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mark Cooke's late challenge caught a Mathis FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mark Cooke helped the player get up and apologised. Mark Cooke hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Kenny Messer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kirby Andrews, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. George Leon might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kenny Messer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. George Leon ran back to his position shaking his head. With an all-out effort, Mathis FC's Kenny Messer threw himself towards the right post 34 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dean Calvert, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 36th minute, Kirby Andrews got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 37th minute, Mark Cooke hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dean Calvert received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Kenny Messer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dean Calvert recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. George Leon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dana Spicer to strike the kick off in the second half. Locust Valley AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mathis FC the free kick. In the 56th match minute, Locust Valley AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Connor Seals to maneuver through the defense. In the 64th minute, Dean Calvert left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mathis FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Dean Calvert blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kenny Messer having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by George Leon in the 76th minute of play forced Locust Valley AFC's goalkeeper Kenny Messer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the match, Dean Calvert had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kenny Messer. Locust Valley AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dean Calvert was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. George Leon struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Kenny Messer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mathis FC. 83 minutes into the match, Mathis FC's George Leon sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kenny Messer narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
