Kirby Andrews sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vince Gill showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Winston Carter, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. After 11 minutes McLean FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Wayne Church who took care of the corner kick. The audience was convinced that Dean Calvert's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Duke Snider was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. 22 minutes into the match, Mathis FC's goal looked a bit too open when Russell Riker came free, but Vince Gill reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Kirby Andrews had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 28 minutes into the game, Houston Coppack was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. McLean FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mathis FC the free kick. After having played for 31 minutes, Dean Calvert managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mathis FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dean Calvert was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Duke Snider made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dean Calvert in the 33rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in McLean FC's zone, Jed Ruiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duke Snider came out of the goal and Jed Ruiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jed Ruiz got free with Duke Snider in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in McLean FC's zone, Dean Calvert stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duke Snider came out of the goal and Dean Calvert tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vince Gill took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Winston Carter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 42 minutes into the match, McLean FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dean Calvert came free, but Duke Snider reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

If Russell Riker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 60 minutes of play, Mathis FC's Dean Calvert made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Duke Snider was left in no man's land by his defense there! Tod Gould recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of McLean FC booed when Mathis FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jed Ruiz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vince Gill made an important save on a dangerous shot by Winston Carter in the 76th minute. In the 76th minute, Homer Hood hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Duke Snider took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dean Calvert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kirby Andrews in the 85th minute of play forced McLean FC's goalkeeper Duke Snider to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kirby Andrews scored 4-0 in the 85th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Duke Snider, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jed Ruiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Mathis FC had played much better football throughout.
