After 5 played minutes, Highland Beach's Carson Browne shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Brice Garrison came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Highland Beach reached it. A hard shot 9 in the game by Merlin Hurley from a close distance when the talented Sean Wise managed to make a qualified save. Highland Beach's players were relieved. Tod Herring kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. If Merlin Hurley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Highland Beach's zone, Chris Trujillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sean Wise came out of the goal and Chris Trujillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Merlin Hurley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sean Wise having to interfere. After 27 minutes, Chris Trujillo made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Highland Beach's Sean Wise tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Tod Herring blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Brice Garrison having to make a save. Darren Camacho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brice Garrison having to interfere. Barcelona USA's Brice Garrison played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tod Herring in the 43rd minute of play. Brice Garrison showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tod Herring in the 44th minute of the match. If Tod Herring had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Sean Wise took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Moises Schaefer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Darren Camacho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brice Garrison having to interfere. Sean Wise showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Merlin Hurley, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Chris Trujillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sean Wise read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. 62 minutes into the game, Tod Herring was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Highland Beach's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Barcelona USA the free kick. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 65th minute, when Highland Beach's Travis Creech after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Brice Garrison in Barcelona USA's goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch. Sean Wise showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Merlin Hurley in the 68th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Highland Beach's Tod Herring got a free kick in the 73rd minute. In the 74th minute, Merlin Hurley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Barcelona USA players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
