The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Shannon Velazquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Carson Wilhelm tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Grand Forks AFC getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Antoine Guerra hit a great ball. In the 34th minute, Mason Minton ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jamal De La Cruz was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Antoine Guerra charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Antoine Guerra the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Antoine Guerra kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Dan Cuevas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ed McCloud fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jamal De La Cruz having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 51st minute, Jonas Heller hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 53 minutes into the game, Nathan Mueller was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bellefonte AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Grand Forks AFC the free kick. The supporters of Grand Forks AFC booed when Bellefonte AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nathan Mueller didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 81st minute Ed McCloud shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jamal De La Cruz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jamal De La Cruz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dan Cuevas in the 83rd minute of play. Ed McCloud fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jamal De La Cruz having to interfere.
