Dana Watkins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dallas Swartz, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dallas Swartz in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dana Watkins saved Hitchcock from getting behind. After 24 played minutes Hitchcock got a freekick which was hit by Markus Rich. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Jeff Britton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mount Vernon AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jeff Britton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. After the first half Mount Vernon AFC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Todd Rice to strike the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes of play, Hitchcock's Santo Mallory made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Odell Carrier was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 65thth minute of the game Santo Mallory who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mount Vernon AFC's Odell Carrier was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Hitchcock's Dana Watkins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeff Britton in the 67th minute of play. Todd Rice sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Odell Carrier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santo Mallory in the 73rd minute of play. The supporters of Hitchcock booed when Mount Vernon AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cary Ramey didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 75 played minutes, Hitchcock's Markus Rich shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Odell Carrier came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hitchcock reached it. Jeff Britton was extremely unlucky when he, in the 81st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After 82 played minutes Hitchcock got a freekick which was hit by Rolf Keene. Dallas Swartz struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Dana Watkins didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mount Vernon AFC. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Jeff Britton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
