Spectators: 7743 (Terracing: 5809, Seating: 1780, VIP seats: 154) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Jeff Britton kicked off to start the match. In the 5th minute of the match Victor Feliciano shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Odell Carrier showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 7th minute, Jeff Britton reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Kirk Hearn. The goal made the score 1-0. Dallas Swartz got a fine position in front of goal ttaking advantage of the opportunity to rumble in 2-0 in the right cross in the 11th match minute before Kirk Hearn had time to react. Mount Vernon AFC's Odell Carrier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tad Platt in the 20th minute of play. Tad Platt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Odell Carrier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Von Ross sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Tad Platt came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Samson AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tad Platt couldn't finish the play. If Tad Platt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 36 minutes into the match, Von Ross notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Mount Vernon AFC's Odell Carrier. Odell Carrier was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Samson AFC's Von Ross got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Von Ross's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Odell Carrier was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Von Ross stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Mount Vernon AFC's Odell Carrier got control of the ball when Tad Platt tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Von Ross in the 52nd minute of play forced Mount Vernon AFC's goalkeeper Odell Carrier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tad Platt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mount Vernon AFC's Odell Carrier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Von Ross in the 56th minute of play. Samson AFC's Tad Platt got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kirk Hearn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeff Britton, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Dallas Swartz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kirk Hearn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. Mount Vernon AFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 70th minute, when Von Ross scored to the left of an out of position Odell Carrier, making the score, 2-2. In the 75th minute, Elvis Tobin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Samson AFC's Anson Holloway tried to score from far away in the 76th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Samson AFC defense, Dallas Swartz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kirk Hearn. The Samson AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kirk Hearn should have stopped the shot. Sal Clayton's late challenge caught a Mount Vernon AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sal Clayton helped the player get up and apologised. In the 82nd minute, Sal Clayton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Von Ross had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Through an outstanding action, after 89 minutes, Odell Carrier successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A collision led to Mount Vernon AFC getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Cary Ramey hit a great ball. Odell Carrier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Von Ross in the 92nd minute of play. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Mount Vernon AFC were victorious despite being under pressure from Samson AFC for much of the match.
