Seating: 1300, VIP seats: 15) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Jim McNeill got the match started through his kick off. Dana Watkins stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jim McNeill's shot from short distance in the 3rd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jim McNeill in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dana Watkins prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Harry Velasquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Dana Watkins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jim McNeill blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dana Watkins having to make a save. If Harry Velasquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Hitchcock's zone, Harry Velasquez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dana Watkins came out of the goal and Harry Velasquez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Jim McNeill's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dana Watkins was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. After 29th play minutes Jim McNeill shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Dana Watkins and just under the crossbar into goal. Hitchcock's Todd Rice got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hitchcock's Ferdinand Bernstein has a good shot, but didn't show it this time. The shot went over the crossbar in the 34th minute. Houston Woodward fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dana Watkins having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Harry Velasquez in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dana Watkins saved Hitchcock from getting behind. If Jim McNeill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Todd Rice was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Houston Woodward managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Waverly FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Houston Woodward was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Hitchcock's zone, Harry Velasquez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dana Watkins came out of the goal and Harry Velasquez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 58 played minutes Hitchcock got a freekick which was hit by Todd Rice. When Waverly FC's Jim McNeill in the 61st minute got a chance for a shot 61st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Hitchcock's goalie prevented a goal. Jim McNeill's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 65thth minute, Dana Watkins skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Jim McNeill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 68 in the game by Jim McNeill from a close distance when the talented Dana Watkins managed to make a qualified save. Hitchcock's players were relieved. Santo Mallory received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Everett Boudreaux tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jim McNeill's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dana Watkins read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. When Rolf Keene fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hitchcock's protests and gave Rolf Keene a yellow card for diving instead. In the 76th match minute, Hitchcock was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rolf Keene to maneuver through the defense. Jim McNeill who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 79thth minute tested the skills of Dana Watkins when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Hitchcock getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Rolf Keene hit a great ball. If Jim McNeill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 94 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Hitchcock! The goalkeeper, Dana Watkins, was totally fooled by Waverly FC's Jim McNeill, who 95 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The supporters of Hitchcock booed when Waverly FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jackson Torrez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Waverly FC played a much better game than Hitchcock and deserved their victory. The Hitchcock players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
