When Ahmed Barrera came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Monstars fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ahmed Barrera couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Merrill Devine's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bryant Stroud was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Virginia Gardens AFC's Leroy Bernard got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Leroy Bernard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bryant Stroud having to interfere.

The wind increased when Hugh Lincoln made the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Monstars defense, Merrill Devine kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bryant Stroud. The Monstars fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bryant Stroud should have stopped the shot. Dave Mabry hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. If Ahmed Barrera had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Merrill Devine struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Bryant Stroud didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Virginia Gardens AFC. 72 minutes into the match, Virginia Gardens AFC's Merrill Devine sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bryant Stroud narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Leroy Bernard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Erik Pratt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bryant Stroud having to interfere. Merrill Devine received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Bryant Stroud tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Leroy Bernard managed to get in a good position for a shot.
