Spectators: 6936 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1782, VIP seats: 154) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ignacio Sims started the match with the kick off. Freddie Colbert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 2nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Orlando Busch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kermit Buckley having to interfere. MONTERREY's Zane Pollard got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ignacio Sims in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Merle Kincaid saved MONTERREY from getting behind. In the 29th minute, Freddie Colbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Ignacio Sims's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Merle Kincaid was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. 34 minutes into the game, Orlando Busch was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. MONTERREY's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Captain America the free kick. The supporters of Captain America booed when MONTERREY was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Orlando Busch didn't get a good kick on the ball. 37 minutes into the match, MONTERREY's Orlando Busch sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kermit Buckley narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ron Guidry recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kermit Buckley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Orlando Busch in the 44th minute of the match. Kermit Buckley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Orlando Busch, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Orlando Busch was the one to do the kick off. Captain America's Kermit Buckley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zane Pollard in the 52nd minute of play. Ron Guidry's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Merle Kincaid read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Kermit Buckley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zane Pollard in the 56th minute of the match. In the 58th minute Zane Pollard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kermit Buckley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ron Guidry fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Merle Kincaid having to interfere. In the 66th minute, Zane Pollard got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 67 played minutes Captain America got a freekick which was hit by Boyce Dubose. 70 minutes had been played when some careless play by Captain America's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Omar Presley was slow to take the kick. During this time MONTERREY's players had a chance to rest. Kermit Buckley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monroe Puckett in the 84th minute of play. Orlando Busch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kermit Buckley having to interfere. In the 90th minute, Zane Pollard ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kermit Buckley was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 94th minute Orlando Busch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kermit Buckley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 97 minutes into the match, MONTERREY's goalkeeper Merle Kincaid had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ron Guidry.
