The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute, Moses Medeiros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 9th minute of the match, Chad Molina got a very nice opportunity to score, but Kory Scott was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Pontotoc's Kory Scott proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Pontotoc from getting a goal against them. In the 18th minute, Reuben Pate reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Kory Scott. The goal made the score 1-0. Jaime Armstrong recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Moses Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 80 minutes, Jamar Kemp managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pontotoc's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jamar Kemp was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ken Winston showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Dickens in the 86th minute of the match.
