Bakersfield SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bellingham Dolphins the free kick. In the 17th minute, Edmundo Oakley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Darrel Whalen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cory Helms in the 18th minute of play. Darrel Whalen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Bakersfield SC's Angelo Gregg got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Darrel Whalen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Oakley in the 33rd minute of play. Von Gilbert's late challenge caught a Bellingham Dolphins's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Von Gilbert helped the player get up and apologised. Sydney Sheehan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without German Shockley having to interfere. Darrel Whalen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cory Helms went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Cory Helms fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darrel Whalen having to interfere. Darrel Whalen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmundo Oakley in the 56th minute of the match. German Shockley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Salvador Patten in the 58th minute of play. Darrel Whalen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cory Helms in the 62nd minute. Pat Pryor's late challenge caught a Bakersfield SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pat Pryor helped the player get up and apologised. Pat Pryor kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rudolph McFadden during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Bellingham Dolphins booed when Bakersfield SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rudolph McFadden didn't get a good kick on the ball. Andre Matthews was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 67th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. When Sydney Sheehan came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Bakersfield SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sydney Sheehan couldn't finish the play. Bakersfield SC's Darrel Whalen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmundo Oakley in the 86th minute of play. 87 minutes into the match, Bakersfield SC's goalkeeper Darrel Whalen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cory Helms. After 93 minutes of play Bellingham Dolphins's Armando Mathis was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Armando Mathis kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match.
