After having played for 36 minutes, Santiago Jenkins managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aiea AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Santiago Jenkins was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 43rd minute, Gavin Colbert got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Reuben Dodge charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Reuben Dodge the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Bakersfield SC booed when Aiea AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reuben Dodge didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gavin Colbert stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee felt a red card was in order, 80 minutes into the game, when Archie Cardoso put in a rough tackle. 79 minutes into the game, one of Bakersfield SC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Aiea AFC a penalty, 82 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Colin Childress, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Bakersfield SC's Darrel Whalen. 2-1. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bakersfield SC's goalkeeper Darrel Whalen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
