Darnell Hickman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bellingham Dolphins. Bellingham Dolphins's Edmundo Oakley got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. German Shockley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Waylon Daniel, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. 32 minutes into the match, Bellingham Dolphins's goal looked a bit too open when Waylon Daniel came free, but German Shockley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee ignored Bellingham Dolphins's protests and gave Napoleon Lloyd a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 38th minute of the game. One of Bellingham Dolphins:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Burlington FC:s goal. German Shockley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tuan Dennison in the 43rd minute of the match. After 45 minutes Bellingham Dolphins's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Eric Haney who took care of the corner kick. After the first half Burlington FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Tuan Dennison got free with German Shockley in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Waylon Daniel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Waylon Daniel in the 59th minute of play forced Bellingham Dolphins's goalkeeper German Shockley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Waylon Daniel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but German Shockley was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. Burlington FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
