When Luciano Hale came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the DC united fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luciano Hale couldn't finish the play. Eric Cherry's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Virgilio Cummins firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ramon Fry charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ramon Fry the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Winchester FC's Ramon Fry got a free kick in the 26th minute. Kirk Otero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ace Tipton in the 28th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luciano Hale in the 29th minute of play forced Winchester FC's goalkeeper Kirk Otero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ace Tipton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Kirk Otero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ace Tipton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Eric Cherry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eric Cherry received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Virgilio Cummins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Virgilio Cummins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sid Farley, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After 65 played minutes DC united got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Hobbs. Eric Cherry fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgilio Cummins having to interfere. In the 68th minute of the game, Ramon Fry landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. When Adrian Hobbs fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored DC united's protests and gave Adrian Hobbs a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, DC united's Adrian Hobbs got a free kick in the 69th minute. Virgilio Cummins came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Winchester FC's Eric Cherry. But to his dismay, Eric Cherry quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. When Ace Tipton came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the DC united fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ace Tipton couldn't finish the play. 85 minutes into the game, Billy Small was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Winchester FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave DC united the free kick. In the 85th match minute, Winchester FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Billy Small to maneuver through the defense. If Luciano Hale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ace Tipton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kirk Otero having to interfere. The Winchester FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
