After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Daryl Rose managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cherryvale's supporters rose to their feet, but Daryl Rose was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lenny MacDowell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jude Powers charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jude Powers the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bryon Escobar during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 5th match minute, Cross City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bryon Escobar to maneuver through the defense. If Dean Novak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 15 played minutes Cross City got a freekick which was hit by Bryon Escobar. After having played for 18 minutes, Daryl Rose managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cherryvale's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daryl Rose was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Neil Weiss fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reed Bateman having to interfere. Jude Powers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 26th minute Jude Powers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lenny MacDowell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Cross City getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Neil Weiss hit a great ball. Tim Rosas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lenny MacDowell having to interfere. In the 39th minute, Dean Novak got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 40th minute, Daryl Rose left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cherryvale fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After some careless play in the Cross City defense, Jude Powers kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lenny MacDowell. The Cross City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lenny MacDowell should have stopped the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jude Powers to strike the kick off in the second half. When Randall Patel came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Cherryvale fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Randall Patel couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jude Powers got free with Lenny MacDowell in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 63 minutes, Dean Novak managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cherryvale's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dean Novak was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daryl Rose received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Lenny MacDowell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lenny MacDowell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jude Powers in the 66th minute of the match. 70 minutes into the match, Cross City's goal looked a bit too open when Jude Powers came free, but Lenny MacDowell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tim Rosas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Lenny MacDowell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dean Novak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lenny MacDowell having to interfere. 75 minutes into the game, Dean Novak cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Lenny MacDowell was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cross City's Lenny MacDowell proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Cross City from getting a goal against them. Cherryvale's Peter Ramos got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cross City's Lenny MacDowell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Josef Colbert in the 91st minute of play. Cherryvale played a much better game than Cross City and deserved their victory. The Cross City players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
