Bradly Pena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Werner Meyer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC Chicago's Werner Meyer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tommie Pennington in the 37th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jaime Ryan made a kick off. Lenny Hand was shown his second yellow card after 51 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, FC Chicago's Lenny Hand got a free kick in the 52nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Tommie Pennington managed to get in a good position for a shot. Juventus FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Tommie Pennington was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Werner Meyer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 59th minute, Rene Bennett made a precise shot to the right of Werner Meyer. FC Chicago's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tommie Pennington got free with Werner Meyer in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 66 minutes, Tommie Pennington managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Juventus FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tommie Pennington was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Grady Larkin managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Chicago's supporters rose to their feet, but Grady Larkin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Weldon Bergman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Tommie Pennington came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Juventus FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tommie Pennington couldn't finish the play. 84 minutes into the match, Tommie Pennington had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Werner Meyer. FC Chicago's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tommie Pennington was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. After a defensive mix-up in FC Chicago's zone, Sandy Hanson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Werner Meyer came out of the goal and Sandy Hanson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. FC Chicago's Werner Meyer proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save FC Chicago from getting a goal against them. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
