Werner Meyer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bill Dawkins, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

After 88 played minutes, FC Chicago's Jarrod Hemphill shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alfred Lucas came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Chicago reached it. Chino Hills's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
