Cason Conner started the match with the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Weldon Reilly in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Geoff Walton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Julio Morton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Julio Morton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ari McCain made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julio Morton in the 25th minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, Charlotte's goal looked a bit too open when Julio Morton came free, but Ari McCain reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The LA CLIPPERS fans' excitement grew in the 31st match minute when LA CLIPPERS's Brent Wilcox looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Julio Morton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Ari McCain tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ari McCain showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cason Conner, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. After the first half LA CLIPPERS were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Ari McCain took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cason Conner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Julio Morton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 56 minutes into the match, Charlotte's goalkeeper Ari McCain had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Julio Morton. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cason Conner in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ari McCain saved Charlotte from getting behind. If Weldon Reilly had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Denver Carter kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Weldon Reilly fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geoff Walton having to interfere. Sean Dugan struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Geoff Walton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Charlotte. In the 72nd minute, Julio Morton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Charlotte's Ari McCain got control of the ball when Julio Morton tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Denver Carter came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the LA CLIPPERS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Denver Carter couldn't finish the play. In the 88th minute of the match, Cason Conner tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ari McCain saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With his leg Ari McCain managed to avoid a goal in the 89thth minute, when LA CLIPPERS's Julio Morton fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 91 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Charlotte! When the match was over LA CLIPPERS could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Charlotte throughout the match.
