Waialua's Erik Cabrera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manuel Abraham in the 36th minute of play. If Jessie Magee had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jessie Magee scored 1-1 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Erik Cabrera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rich Lawson made a kick off. After 53 minutes of play FC Motagua's Wilfred Courtney was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The audience was convinced that Rich Lawson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sanford Benjamin was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Manuel Abraham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Cabrera having to interfere. Bruce Singer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 64 played minutes FC Motagua got a freekick which was hit by Jessie Magee. An unexpected shot in the 76th minute by Manuel Abraham got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Leland Cordero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Erik Cabrera made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Manuel Abraham sent off a good shot on target. Waialua's Erik Cabrera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Waialua from getting a goal against them. In the 92nd minute, Rich Lawson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sanford Benjamin was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. FC Motagua's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Waialua had won, even though FC Motagua had held more of the ball.
