After 3 minutes, Denver Jones mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Somerset and the Tampa Bay players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Somerset's Denver Jones got a free kick in the 3rd minute. The supporters of Tampa Bay booed when Somerset was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Perry Dodge didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 14th minute, Peter Mott made a precise shot to the right of Alfred Russo. Somerset's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. If Casper Epps had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacob Cabrera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Casper Epps, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd minute, Brice Holden hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Casper Epps in the 26th minute of play forced Tampa Bay's goalkeeper Jacob Cabrera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28th minute, Ervin Woodall got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Casper Epps came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Somerset fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Casper Epps couldn't finish the play. Lincoln Root could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Jacob Cabrera made a huge save. Jacob Cabrera made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Ervin Woodall sent off a good shot on target. Jordan Browne's late challenge caught a Somerset's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jordan Browne helped the player get up and apologised. Somerset made a substitution. Rey Ruffin replaced Lincoln Root. After 43 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Tampa Bay! The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Rey Ruffin made the kick off in the second half. When Rey Ruffin came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Somerset fans jumped to their feet. Waylon Hyatt took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 61st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alfred Russo. Somerset's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Tampa Bay's zone, Casper Epps stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacob Cabrera came out of the goal and Casper Epps tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Casper Epps fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacob Cabrera having to interfere. After some careless play in the Somerset defense, Bill McCauley kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alfred Russo. The Somerset fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alfred Russo should have stopped the shot. Casper Epps fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacob Cabrera having to interfere. If Ervin Woodall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rey Ruffin in the 97th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jacob Cabrera saved Tampa Bay from getting behind. When the final whistle went the supporters of Tampa Bay were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Somerset side.
