Curt Henry took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eusebio Peachey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Curt Henry didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Peter Mott went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Tampa Bay's Peter Mott got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Curt Henry took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Peter Mott, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind América de Cali's goalkeeper Curt Henry, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eusebio Peachey in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Curt Henry saved América de Cali from getting behind. 44 minutes into the match, América de Cali's Seth McClain sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jacob Cabrera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Seth McClain succeeded in the game's 55th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. Peter Mott sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eusebio Peachey struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Tampa Bay's Jacob Cabrera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Seth McClain in the 79th minute of play. If Seth McClain had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 90 played minutes América de Cali got a freekick which was hit by Johnathan Weaver. Curt Henry showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eusebio Peachey, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. The Tampa Bay players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented América de Cali from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
