Spectators: 6774 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1774, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Tad Dodson started the match with the kick off. After having played for 4 minutes, Tad Dodson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carbondale FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tad Dodson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Keenan Barth struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Titus Peoples didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carbondale FC. In the 8thth minute of the game Tad Dodson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Starkville's Titus Peoples was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 8th match minute, Starkville was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Corey Uster to maneuver through the defense. If Tad Dodson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kenneth Joyner made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mitchell Rutledge in the 19th minute. 22 minutes into the match, Starkville's Mitchell Rutledge sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kenneth Joyner narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Kenneth Joyner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from William Dotson in the 25th minute of play. Derick Langford sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Starkville's Abraham Melton got a free kick in the 28th minute. In the 31st minute of the match Bobbie Briggs shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Titus Peoples showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Derick Langford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 34 minutes into the match, Tad Dodson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Titus Peoples. Starkville's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tad Dodson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Shaun Nance was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 45th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Mitchell Rutledge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Kenneth Joyner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Carbondale FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and William Dotson made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Mitchell Rutledge got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 58 minutes into the match, Carbondale FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mitchell Rutledge came free, but Kenneth Joyner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Tad Dodson came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Carbondale FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tad Dodson couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Corey Uster managed to get in a good position for a shot. Starkville's supporters rose to their feet, but Corey Uster was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kenneth Joyner breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Starkville's Titus Peoples played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tad Dodson in the 70th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Tad Dodson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Titus Peoples was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. Starkville's Titus Peoples played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tad Dodson in the 73rd minute of play. In the 75th minute William Dotson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kenneth Joyner saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Derick Langford fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Titus Peoples having to interfere. If Tad Dodson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Titus Peoples showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Derick Langford in the 83rd minute of the match. 87 minutes into the match, Carbondale FC's Tad Dodson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Titus Peoples narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Starkville's Titus Peoples proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Starkville from getting a goal against them. 94 minutes into the game, Harvey Barrera was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carbondale FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Starkville the free kick. In the 95th minute, Harvey Barrera hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 96 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Starkville's William Dotson fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Carbondale FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
