Giovanni Walden tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Starkville's Mitchell Rutledge got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 42nd match minute, Starkville was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilber Silver to maneuver through the defense. Titus Peoples showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gerardo Green, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After the first half Starkville were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Starkville's Titus Peoples played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerardo Green in the 90th minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, Von Staley notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Starkville's Titus Peoples. Titus Peoples was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Starkville had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
