Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Darby's Bernardo Thurston started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Morningstar FC booed when Darby was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlo Yates didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 7th match minute, Darby was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Virgilio Espinoza to maneuver through the defense. In the 11th minute, Bernardo Thurston fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 14 minutes into the match, Morningstar FC's Logan Diaz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonas Lowery narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 17th minute Logan Diaz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonas Lowery saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, Morningstar FC's goalkeeper Levi Baxter had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fletcher Steele. After a defensive mix-up in Darby's zone, Sonny Zavala stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonas Lowery came out of the goal and Sonny Zavala tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Darby's Bernardo Thurston in the 34th minute got a chance for a shot 34th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Morningstar FC's goalie prevented a goal. Fletcher Steele recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 41st minute, Fletcher Steele fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Levi Baxter, passed just outside the right post. Logan Diaz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Jonas Lowery tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bernardo Thurston received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Levi Baxter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sonny Zavala made a kick off. The referee ignored Darby's protests and gave Bernardo Thurston a yellow card for diving instead. Bernardo Thurston hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Rashad Dietz hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. In the 57th minute Fletcher Steele shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Levi Baxter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Morningstar FC getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Colin Wesley hit a great ball. Levi Baxter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardo Thurston, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. With an all-out effort, Morningstar FC's Jonas Lowery threw himself towards the right post 60 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sonny Zavala, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fletcher Steele in the 64th minute of play forced Morningstar FC's goalkeeper Levi Baxter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sonny Zavala sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 78th match minute, Morningstar FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Colin Wesley to maneuver through the defense. Levi Baxter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fletcher Steele, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Bernardo Thurston might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Levi Baxter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bernardo Thurston ran back to his position shaking his head. Colin Wesley hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. When Bernardo Thurston came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Darby fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernardo Thurston couldn't finish the play. In the 86th minute of the match Filiberto Coffey shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Levi Baxter showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 88 minutes into the match, Morningstar FC's goal looked a bit too open when Bernardo Thurston came free, but Levi Baxter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Levi Baxter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Virgilio Espinoza in the 91st minute of the match. Darby were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Morningstar FC for a fine match.
